We use quality solid American hardwood that is cut and dried right here in the United States. This makes the wood resistant to warping for our climate conditions. Hardwoods allow for a smooth paint finish and are much lighter and sturdier than MDF. The grain of the wood also allows for wider spans without sagging. Our hardwood dowel construction is superior to “tongue & groove” and is important for building a strong shutter frame. Our 2 1/2", 3 1/2" and 4 1/2” louvers have tapered edges to eliminate the “bulky” look and are counter balanced to stay where they are set.

We use nylon louver pins because they wear well against friction and keep the louvers from rattling. Wood pins require loose tolerances and allow rattling as the wood expands and contracts. We’ve also added an adjustable tension system to keep the correct tension on the louvers for the lifetime of the shutter.
